Learning a New Craft — The Art of Journal Making & Calligraphy
Exploring a timeless skill at my local community college
This week, I stepped into a new creative journey by enrolling in The Art of Journal Making and Calligraphy course. Hosted by our local community college, the class introduced us to the joy of building our own soft-bound journal from scratch — stitching, binding, decorating — and diving deep into the various calligraphic techniques.
We experimented with different pens and ink styles, from fine-point nibs to broad-stroke markers. It felt refreshing to take time to slow down and let each letter form with intention and grace.

What’s on My Craft Table This Week?
Backpacks in progress and stitched with purpose
Back in the studio, my hands have been hard at work. I'm deep in the zone completing a fresh batch of convertible backpacks — a best-loved item in my collection. So far, several are complete and ready to go, and I’ve got 10 more on my checklist.
The thrill of finishing each one brings that special mix of joy and determination. Each stitch reminds me: I get to do what I love.
