When the Quilt Show Falls Flat (But the Friendship Still Shines)

A Stitch in Time With a Good Friend
I was excited for my third visit to the Quilt Guild Annual Show, especially because it meant catching up with my retreat sewing buddy. Seeing her was—as always—the highlight.

Vendor Woes and Thrift Store Blahs
Unfortunately, this year’s event didn’t live up to past visits. Fewer vendors, higher prices, and a lackluster “country store” (a.k.a. thrift table) made it hard to get inspired. Even worse, the credit card policy required a minimum spend, which felt inconvenient and out of touch.

Crowds, Chaos, and Maybe the Final Curtain
The show also felt less organized and less attended than usual. It just didn’t have the same energy or excitement I remembered. I did find something to bring home, but honestly, this might have been my last visit to the event.

What’s on the Craft Table
Back in my happy place—my studio—I have 8 backpacks still in progress. Once they’re complete, I’m diving into a batch of easy-to-make crossbody bags using just four fat quarters. Fast, fun, and perfect for summer sewing!
